hey all,
 
I hope and pray your summer has been good.  I can't believe that it is
time to come back already, but the calendar doesn't lie.
 
Next week is "move in week" and we are gearing up. The peer ministers
will by laying out the semesters game plan this weekend so keep you eyes
open for announcements like this telling you what God has in store for
us this year.
 
IF you are available to help with some of our "welcome ministry" we'd
love to have you involved.
On Thursday august 24th we will be handing out water bottles in front of
Douglas hall and by the stadium (at the entrance to the old track).  We
should be handing the bottles out from about 9am until about 3pm.  IF
you can be there to help pus start, meet at the church, otherwise go to
one of the stations, or if you come later than 9am you can check in the
office and Rhonda will be able to direct you to where we are.  We will
be handing out 5,000 water bottles advertising our activities, it s
really fun but also a great way to met new students and provide them
with some thing they need... regular water and connection to "living
water".
 
At about 6pm we will setting up the big tent in the field for our
activities later that weekend, extra hands are always helpful.
 
On Friday we will be at Friday fest, so stop by and say "hi". This year
Friday fest is supposed to run from noon until 2pm out at the
convocation center.  Again, a great opportunity to meet new people.
 
On Friday night we will be hosting the international student Picnic at
5:30 pm.  Feel free to come and eat free food while also helping to
extend the hand of friendship to new students who come from all parts of
the world.  
After the picnic we will begin setting up for the tent sale that will
happen the next day.Help is very need for that, plus if you help you get
first pick on some of the stuff.
 
On Saturday morning we have our big tent sale.  From 8 am until 1pm we
can use help "manning the sale". All the money goes to support our
campus ministry work, plus it helps students furnish their apartments,
dorms etc. with other peoples junk... its kind of wild to watch what
people will buy!
 
 
On Sunday come to church at 8am or 10:30. There will be a Bible study at
9:15 am led by Jenna Wright.  After the 10:30 service there will be a
free pancake breakfast.  
At 4pm come back for the BIG welcome back BBQ!!!!!! This is one of our
biggest events of the year. Tons of free food (burgers, dogs, etc), out
door sports like volleyball, football,... people even play Bocce ball...
it is fun! in doors is air-conditioning (it is still august!) air hockey
and of course the main attraction HEARTS!  Don't miss it.
 
Weekly events are yet to hammered out, but plan on the pastor led Bible
study being on Tuesday nights at 9pm like usual. This year we will study
the book of Luke... start to finish!  
 
I can't wait to see you all back... And please help spread the word to
others (forward this email, invite them to come with you to events,
etc.)
