Hey All,

I have a story to share with you all. (I'm sorry. You're probably tired of
hearing about me:-) If you remember, at the beginning of this semester, I
still had no idea what I was going to do with myself after graduation, which
is in May, I might add. I was freaking out. I prayed for God to guide me,
but I fully expected Him to make me wait until April or so for an answer.
That's God's job, right? To make things as difficult as possible so that
we learn to rely on Him? Well, I was pleasantly surprised. All of a
sudden, the pieces started falling into place, and I know what I'm doing
with myself next year, and it's only November! I can chill out and enjoy the
rest of my senior year! Apparently God isn't interested in making life
difficult. And yet so often, we expect Him to do just that. We have faith
that He'll come through, eventually, but we don't believe He is remotely
interested in making life pleasant for us. We forget that He is, after all,
our Father, not our drill sergeant. But Jesus spent 33 years on this earth.
He knows it's a difficult place to be. (And He knew that before He spent
time here) He wept when His friend Lazarus died, even though He knew that
He was going to raise Lazarus from the dead (John 11). So maybe faith
consists not only in believing He'll lead us to where He wants us to be, but
that He knows we desperately want answers. Maybe faith is trusting in God's
goodness, just as much as trusting in His power--in other words, trusting
in His love for us, which he reassures us of over and over again in His
word.

All right, on to business. Here's what's happening this week at Refuge:

Tuesday, Nov. 14: pastor-led Bible study on Luke at 9:00 in the lounge

Fuentes on current events/the elections/etc. Come to air your grievances!

Thursday, Nov. 16: Women's Bible Study at 7:00. Meet in the lounge, and
we'll go to an UNDISCLOSED LOCATION from there. Only two more weeks after

finals week.

Saturday, Nov. 18: TURKEY TURKEY TURKEY time. Well, turkey prep. We'll be
preparing for the Thanksgiving Dinner Refuge hosts every year. From 9:00 am
until whenever we'll be peeling potatoes, preparing veggies, etc. We REALLY
NEED HELP for this, guys. Pizza will be provided around noon.

Sunday, Nov. 19: worship at 8:00 and 10:30. Pancake breakfast following
10:30 service.

Sign-up sheets for both the Thanksgiving prep day and the dinner itself are

THANKS SO MUCH!

All right, that's all for now.
