[LSF-Announce] This Week at Refuge (Go Bears!)

Hey All,

So, it's cold out, there's snow on the ground, assignments are beginning to
stack up, and we are beginning to wish the semester (or perhaps our college
careers) were over already.  Some words from Paul:

"I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I
have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether
well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do
everything through him who gives me strength." (Philippians 4:12-13)

There are times when life seems too hard, tiring, or perhaps even a bit
boring.  Paul encourages us to be content in every situation, whether in
want or in plenty, by focusing on doing everything through Christ.  By
continually wishing for the future,  continually dreaming of the things we
don't have yet, we miss opportunities God has given us to do His will now.
And we also make ourselves miserable over the dream life we wish we had,
instead of thanking God for the good things we do, in fact, have. At least,
I know I do. So let us turn our focus to being content and honoring Christ
in the present.  We can't do anything about the future, anyhow.


All right, so here's what's happening this week at Refuge. First, though a
special announcement:

Superbowl Party!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, so do I have your attention?  This Sunday, 5:00 (feel free to come a bit
earlier for pre-game stuff), we will be hosting a Superbowl Party in the
lounge to watch the Bears' beat the ever-living daylights out of the Colts.
There will be a LARGE SCREEN set up for the game, plus lots of really great
food and good people, a dorky prize for whoever comes the closest to
guessing the score, and other great stuff, so COME!


And the rest of the week:

Monday, Jan. 29: lounge open, 6:00-10:00

Tuesday, Jan. 30: Pastor-led Bible study on Luke at 9:00 in the lounge

Wednesday, Jan. 31: Women's Bible study, meet at the church at 8:00, and
we'll head to an UNDISCLOSED LOCATION from there.
GUYS: meet at the church at 8:00, and, because you're BORING and can't think
of an undisclosed location, stay at the church for a Bible study on the book
of Titus.

Thursday, Feb. 1: Bible study on Revelation led by Jenna and Mitch, in the
lounge, at 9:00

Sunday, Feb. 4: Worship at 8:00 and 10:30, with pancakes following the 10:30
service. Plus, of course, the SUPERBOWL PARTY.
