Hey All,
Summer is almost here! Let's face it: Summer is never the picture-perfect
day at the beach that all TV shows make it out to be. For some, maybe home
isn't terribly exciting. Or maybe it's even a bit stressful. Maybe this
summer is going to consist of working full-time (or even more than
full-time) trying to make ends meet for next year. Whatever your plans,
patience is key. I get impatient with summer sometimes--long, hot, sometimes
boring, etc. And a lot of my old high-school friends aren't around anymore.
So I get irritable, and try to rush through the summer and make my life what
I want it ot be. But God tells us:
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I
will be exalted in the earth." The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of
Jacob is our fortress. (Pslam 46:10-11)
So whatever this summer brings--excitement, boredom, perhaps even fear (new
graduates, you know who you are:-) be still, and know that God is over all.
Pray for the strength to endure whatever this summer may bring, instead of
praying for it to be over. God always gives strength to those who ask.
Now, on to business. Here's what's new at Refuge:
Tuesday, May 1: Pastor-led Bible study at 9:00 in the lounge.
Wednesday, May 2: Women's Bible study--meet at the church at 8:00. Guys, do
the same, I presume.
Thursday, May 3: Revelation at 9:00, led by Mitch and Jenna. They're tying
it all up quickly, so come see what's going to happen at the end of the
world, anyway:-)
Friday, May 4: READING DAY! We're hosting a photo scavenger hunt from
1:00-4:00. Meet at the church, and we'll go from there.
Sunday, May 6: Worship at 8:00 and 10:30. The big news is that at 9:30,
we'll be having our grad breakfast. This is a time to recognize our
graduates and hear a little about their future plans (and a time for the
congregation to do so as well).
And then....FINALS...(death music in background) Good luck with those,
y'all. If you're a senior, remember, these are the last finals you'll ever
have to take (unless you did something stupid like decide to go to grad
school....ahem.....)
Take care and God bless,
Nikki
