Hey All,

Some word from Isaiah:

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even
youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew
their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they
will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:29-31)

Weariness comes in all shapes and sizes--physical, emotional, mental, etc.
In the middle of the semester, it's easy to be weary: You're not getting
enough sleep, you're not eating very well, you have too much to do, you're
having problems with friends, or family, or a significant other. And at the
moment, it may seem like the best option is to curl up in bed and just let
it all slide by. But God promises that "those who hope in the Lord will
renew their strength." So hold on, and hope, and God will pull you through.
And know that in these times, God is making you a better Christian.

Here's what's happening this week at Refuge:

Tuesday, Oct. 23: Pastor-led Bible study on John at 9:00

Wednesday, Oct. 24: Popcorn Bible study. This week is led by Matt Olson, and
he promises it will be shocking....uh oh....

Thursday, Oct. 25: Matt and John in the lounge, 6:00-10:00. Come keep them
company!

Friday, Oct. 26: HALLOWEEN PARTY!!!!!! 7:30 at the church. Come in your best
costume, and we'll be the judges of who gets to take home this year's
fabulous prize. (Anybody have a prize idea? ;-) Scary movies will be
playing, food will be abundant, and in general, much fun will be had. So
come!

Sunday, Oct. 28: Worship at 8:00 and 10:30, with pancakes in the lounge
following the 10:30 service.

Monday, Oct. 29: Women's Bible study social event!!!! Woohoo!!!!! We'll meet
at the church at 7:00 (instead of the usual 8:00) and head out for dinner
after that. I'm psyched. Food ALWAYS makes my day better.

That's all for now! Hope you're all making it through midterms/papers/random
tests/etc.

God Bless,
Nikki
